New state, New city, New adventures

We are very excited to be living in Illinois now. It's such an adventure. Neither of us have lived so far away from family and friends before. It is literally like living in a whole new world. Life and people out here are so much more fast paced then people out in the Oregon, Washington and Idaho areas, that we were used to. It has taken a little getting use to. The drivers are crazy. Running red lights and sitting in the middle of the intersections without any hesitation, care or worry to the fact that they are now blocking two lanes of traffic trying to go the opposite direction. It has definetly taken a little getting use to.
We ended up moving to a completely different apartment and town then the one we had picked out while we were still in Oregon. We ended up in Schaumburg Illinois. A descent sized city, with a lot of things to do and see within a reasonable distance from where we live. The second biggest mall in America just happens to be around ten minutes or less from our place, which makes me happy! We are close to Chicago O'Hare (in case anyone plans on visiting, book it for  O'hare, not midway!)

Our apartment

It's a one bedroom, one bathroom with a den.
It's an older complex that is currently undergoing construction
They invested $22 million into the new renovation.
We moved in so quickly that we believe they didn't
finish the renovations in our apartment.
It's been a struggle trying to get someone over here
to check out the problems and get them fixed.
Hopefully soon they will fix everything!

CHICAGO

It's such a huge city! We have only just begun to explore it and cannot wait to go see more of it. Here are some pictures from our first time downtown Chicago. ENJOY!

Willis Tower (formally the Sears Tower) Chicago, IL

The Skydeck in the Willis Tower has been open to the public since 1974. A tourist hot spot, getting more than 1.3 million visitors annually. The skydeck, located on the 103rd floor, provides visitors with breathtaking views streatching up to 50 miles and views of four states. The newest edition to the skydeck is called the Ledge, built in 2009. The ledge is four glass boxes extending 4.3 feet off the side of the building. Glass ceiling, glass walls and glass floors provide an unforgettable experience of chicago. Stepping out onto the ledge was pretty intense. I suggest not looking down until you get comfortable standing on it, because looking down at your feet and seeing chicago 1,353 feet below you can really turn your stomache. Heights don't bother me too much, but Fred doesn't like them too well. I think everyone that comes to Chicago should see this atleast once. The tickets are a bit pricey, but the experience is worth it.
