Chicago Blizzard 2011

I am sure you have all seen on the news the weather has been doing work on a lot of states, with the storm that at one point covered 2,100 miles wide. Here in Chicago we did get hit pretty hard. I knew that we were expecting snow, but I didn't realize how bad we were going to get it until the night before it hit the hardest. When fred said that we were expecting to get atleast two feet of snow I thought he was joking. Let me tell you it was NO joke when it really started coming down. Ever since we moved into this apartment we knew our windows were pretty much crap. When the wind blows are blinds move! When the wind started blowing hard and the snow was coming down side ways I couldn't help but stand in the front window and just stare down at the weather in awe. Standing there in the window I swore I felt something cold and wet hit my face. I think Fred thought I was just crazy. A few minutes later I find myself back at the window staring out it again and that's when I realized our window is broke! The snow was flying into our apartment! No wonder it never seems to get warm in here! Thank goodness for saran wrap in bulk from Costco, we had to saran wrap our window to keep the snow out and keep us warm. There was a definite change of tempature after sealing it off. We were loving the craziness of the snow and wind so we went outside in the blizzard to experience it. Here are some pictures from during the storm and after the storm and videos of Freds attempt at live weather reports. Total inches of snow for us ended up being 20-22 inches and some areas we found ourselves in waist deep snow drifts.
